Hi, there! I haven’t used this blog much, but for 2017, I’m making it a goal to post regularly. For a long time, I enjoyed podcasting as the regular stuff I put out into the world, but as a work-at-home mother of a toddler (soon to be a toddler and a newborn!), finding time to record, i.e. getting the house to be quiet for a while, is much harder than it used to be. This year I’m changing things up and consolidating my web presence. I’ll still archive articles from my other sites, and One Hundred Centuries isn’t going anywhere, even if it is a very long time between episodes, but you’ll see me over here a lot more.
Join us and make art!
Are you looking for a fun, artistic New Year’s resolution? Join us in the 52 Week illustration Challenge. The basic idea is this: There are a set of prompts, one for each week of the year. Members create an illustration to the theme and post it to the Facebook group. All skill levels welcome. Goodness knows I need some practice, and this challenge is a great way to get it. This year, there’s also a tandem challenge for the very brave and committed to write a picture book manuscript to the prompts. Alas, I have far too many writing projects to write fifty-two picture book manuscripts as well, but it is inspiring to see the outlines posted so far.
This week’s prompt is Whimsy. My take on it was to try and inject whimsy into the least whimsical thing I could think of. I don’t quite feel this tax fairy is a good substitute for a real accountant. Do you?
So what are your New Year’s resolutions or goals. Let’s chat in the comments.
