It’s been a heck of a weekend. It started off with some fantastic marches all around the world, some so big, they couldn’t even move. I wished hard I could have been there, but I’m pregnant. While everything went smoothly, you never know what could happen with huge crowds like that. It would be one thing for me to take that risk, but I couldn’t bring myself to bring my baby into that situation. If you marched or supported in any way, I am so proud of you. I am so proud to see so many come together to support equality.
The next part of the weekend was less inspirational, more worrisome. That same evening and most of the next day, a series of tornadoes struck south Georgia where my parents live. We were lucky. Their yard is a mess, but they are safe and don’t have major damage. Many others lost their homes or even their lives. There’s more information here and a number to call for anyone who wants to help.
Finally, on the lightest note, the illustration of the week. This week’s theme was Australiana. I just kept coming up with cliches until I saw a video of a rare ruby seadragon (seadragons are in the same taxonomical family as seahorses), filmed off the coast of western Australia.
So how was your weekend? Hopefully, tornado-free. Let’s chat in the comments.
